Hello, and a very warm welcome to the Canals & Rivers magazine website!  These are exciting times at your favourite waterways magazine.  Not only have we changed the name (from the long-established Canal & Riverboat), but we have given the publication a complete make-over both inside and out – and this website is included in that.

We decided to re-launch as Canals & Rivers – three years ago, a subtle change of title which, we hope, will broaden the appeal of this already successful publication.  Along with all the regular, favourite boating features we will continue to expand our editorial brief to take in more in the way of other waterway-based lifestyle and leisure activities. 

MAIN FEATURES

Amongst our features is Down Your Way – a comprehensive look at major, city-based areas on the UK inland waterway system.  Recent developments and regeneration in areas such as London, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester have turned the focus on our canals and rivers.

What was once regarded as run down zones overlooking derelict waterways have now become bright, smart, liveable areas with new building, houses, bars, shopping facilities and restaurants.  These areas, along with the more traditional aspects of our canal and river heritage are now places where those looking to use their leisure time to best effect now gravitate.  Down Your Way will showcase these areas, giving plenty of advice and information on cruising the waterways as well as making the most of your visit.

Our regular boating readers will not be overlooked and our already popular features such as new boat reviews, A Boat of Our Own, practical hints and tips, profiles of the best boatbuilders and canal and river cruise features will still remain the backbone of Canals & Rivers.

New product information, reports from all the UK’s major boat shows and Festivals, news, views, letters, wildlife features, gear tests and our annual special supplements on hire boat holidays, power equipment and boatbuilding will all be included to enhance what we believe is one of the most cost-effective publications through which you can maximise your leisure time on the inland waterways as well as - if you are a waterways business - to promote your products and services.
